    Default Timber span tables

    Hi everyone,
Just joined as I came across the site looking for info on timber span tables.
I'm a carpenter & joiner by trade, but have been out of the trade for the past 26 years. I'm now retired and my young fellow wants me to help him renovate a house he's recently purchased at Byron Bay. Given I've been out of the game for a while I wanted to make sure I had all of my timber spans/sizes correct as I'm a bit rusty & things have changed quite a bit since I strapped on the nailbag.

We are going to start off by building a 'studio in the back yard with a loft. The main floor deck is 8m X 6m. I building it on timber posts supported by gal stirrups I want the bearers to run the 6m width and have the joist obviously running the other at 450 centres. With the bearers running 6m supported in the middle at 3m, would two 250 X 50 suffice, given that I want four rows of these, and I was thinking the joists could be 150X50 all F7 of course. Any thoughts opinions.

    Cheers
    Houlie

    Hello Houlie,
There is an associated web site for renovations with a few different forums on structural stuff. Might be more helpful looking over there. Try Span tables for starters.

Thanks everyone, for the welcome, and suggestions which I'll definitely follow up. Sorry I been a little slow in responding, I've been flat out sourcing materials, and putting together designs.
