Slightley longer blade - mine is hard to find
I found myself the proud owner of a little bandsaw I found cheap, which is good as I am broke
Its a Sher Power Tools MJ343C. Google finds a zillion generic Chinese models that are identical.... none sold in Aus, it would seem. It could be 20 or 30 years old, but its done little work (rust free, 3 blades that came with the thing). It cuts very straight, but not smooth, after retrofitting some bearings top and bottom.
Hassle is, it takes 2240mm (88 1/8") blades. I found some at H+F but they are as close to generic as you can get. They would do, but I would like better than generic.
Looking around, there are some super nice blades from many USA based stores, all the "niceness" like super smooth cuts, alloys, special resaws, unbreakable, etc etc.
Since the 88 1/8" seems to be the exact wrong size for everything everyone stocks, I was wondering if I could fit one that was slightly bigger OK? Such as 89 1/2", which seems very common.
There seems to be enough wind in the tensioner, but I was curious to know if anyone has done something like this successfully.

Custom made blades are easy enough to come by and will suit your machine and what work you intend to undertake with it. The price is often cheaper than the ready made store bought blades which often just sit around gathering dust with the hope that the size matches what the customer needs, and I think there is a premium charge for this.
Do a search for Henry Brothers on this site or check with your local saw doctor.
Cheers

It's worthwhile chasing down your local saw doctor anyway. Even if only just for resharpening a bit further down the track.

Ah the 2240 blades. I feel your pain.
They aren't a regular size by any means.
I got my latest blade from combined saw and knives in Brisbane. Made to order and shipped. It's a beautiful blade too. The h and f blades I had previously are very average for holding an edge and because I deal with so much hardwood it's worth the extra for a bi metal blade."That's impossible. Nobody can give more than 100%. By definition that is the most anyone can give"

2240mm is not a regular size of blade on band saw. What do you think is the length difference ? In my calculation, 2240mm should be 88 inches. It's either you go to that website or find a local saw supplier.
