Poor TV picture quality - NRL coverage
I am really p*ssed off with the terrible 576i picture quality delivered by Ch 9 in their NRL coverage. The problem is mainly their Skycam, which looks like it calculates the images, because often the players have shimmering and indistinct outlines, and the jersey numbers are impossible to read in the distance shots.
The problem is aggravated by the nausea inducing incessant swooping and diving of the camera, so much so that on Thurs night coverage I gave up after 30 mins with a stinking headache. Friday night, I lasted until half time.
Looks like my footy TV season is over before It gets under way.
The problem is not my TV, I assure you. It is a good quality Sony Bravia HDMI set with high speed sporting capability.
Contrast this with the American Gridiron games shown on our free to air TV last year. It was amazing quality, 1080i picture definition so crisp you would swear it was in 3D. With all the billions being thrown around for TV coverage, looks like the NRL viewer comes last.
And to think Ch 9 is proud of this Skycam coverage and actively promotes it.
Am I the only one affected by this rubbish technology, or have others noticed it too?regards,
Dengy

Poor TV picture quality - NRL coverage
LOL. I mentioned the same thing. As soon as spider cam or sky cam or whatever they call it goes on, the colour disappears the fish eye effect starts. Not impressed

I could put up with the Skycam to watch NRL games free to air.
Here in New Zealand the only League coverage is on pay tv.
