Log in problems
Over the last month or so I have had log in problems
Can't log in from emailed subscribed threads
Log in to my normal saved web folder page and yep says signed in click on something to go view or post to and I am not signed in I have to sign in again.
Now its a case of after a period of time being signed in I am finding I am signed out.
I have also been signed in typing up a post and go to save that post to find I am not signed in
All of the above
Firefox,Win7

Sounds like a corrupt cache. Clear that out and see what happens.

As my cache is cleared on every shut down and the first two symptoms I gave are from fresh boot of a morning
It happened again after my first post and again when signing in this round had to sign in a 2nd time, there never is a "wrong sign in used" message.

Is the whole cache being cleared?
Are you remembering to tick the remember me box?

Please make sure you are signing in to www.woodworkforums.com and not www.woodworkforums.com.au
Both will tke you to www.woodworkforums.com but using the .com.au ending could cause a problem or two.
Go to www.woodworkforums.com login with username and password amd make sure you click on the remember me box. Do not log out when you have finished your session, just leave the site or close it down without logging out.
If you are running Norton 360 or other Norton software on your computer make sure that it is a completely up to date and you are running the latest version as this can play havoc sometimes with Firefox especially if using identity safe to log in with. Maybe also update Firefox.
Try using Google Chrome or Opera as a browser and see if you have the same problems. If so then the problem is definitely at your end. This definitely isn't a forum problem and I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem other than when Firefox upgrades and Norton (who often lag behind) sometimes don't for a few weeks, and in that case it's usually does the same sort of thing for all sites or will close down the entire browser when you close a tab or sometimes refresh a screen.
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers - Neil

Yep .com not .com.au. and if I am clicking on emailed subscribed links from the forum where would they be taking me????
Firefox is up to date.
Sounds more like the forum is having trouble having read many posts regarding various Net programs, It won't work with IE, now looks like your saying it won't work with Firefox.
Over the last few months a number of people have commented the same as myself Log in problems here on the forum and personally to me asking if I was having the same issue.

Two possible solutions have been offered. You don't appear to have tried them.
Clear your FF cache manually as suggested initially, just in case the auto thing is not working as you would expect.
Tick the "Remember me" option, do a couple of shutdowns/restarts or close/open FF and test your access. You can always logout and simply not tick the option next time.
I expect "Remember me" is a sever-side instruction. It does appear to be dependent on having certain things cached locally. If I get too vigorous with clearing, I have to login again too. But the forum "remember me" option works for me - unless *I* do something.
If you have never used it and until recently have never had to log in, then you have probably being using a local password caching system - either an OS feature or machine specific feature. Things don't really happen automagically, something is behind the scenes is doing it for you. From the evidence so far, with no other FF users suggesting they too have an issue now, something has clearly changed for you recently. Maybe your OS or computer manufacturer has implemented an update that alters the way your local password retrieval systems operates. In my case, I have a HP laptop and HP use 3rd part s/w called Simplepass. Others computers use it too. Recent changes have made it crap with Chrome and FF, keeps crashing and I have turned it off after trying every published solution I can find.
The fact that IE and numerous Forum or forum-like websites have issues talking together is well documented on the web. It is part and parcel of life when two groups of developers don't work together. You can't blame WWF or any other forum or even MS. Changes will always cause ripples and software developers need to work on remedies as time, motive and incentive permit. It's a red herring.
I'm not trying to chastise you, just suggesting you roll with the flow for a while. It sounds like you are becoming a little blinkered as a result of your frustration with the issue.

I guess I didn't make myself clear enough when I said this is from a clean fresh boot of a morning (not in those words) and FF is set to clear ALL cache on close down has been set like this ever since about version 5.
As for "remember me" in 20 years I have never had to use it anywhere and in the period I have been a member of this forum I have when instructed to try it done so except this time reason is its spasmodic except for trying to sign in from emails sent from forum of threads I am subscribed to IT WILL NOT SIGN ME IN AT SERVER END.
As for the rest well seems you've hit the nail on the head. Again I am not the only one who has brought the topic up and I am not having the problem anywhere else. Although I used to on one other forum which uses the same software and they discovered years ago its the software NOT the end user.

I am constantly being logged out on my iPhone, never on my laptop.
Checking 'remember me' has no effect. iPhone is Safari, laptop is Firefox.
I am logged out every few minutes, no notification. Then unable to view any uploaded images until relogging in. You can query your SQL database to verify this and it should give you the reason as well.
cool bananas ... Greg

Wheelin - I've just written then deleted a long winded response. Here is the short version.
1. Can you take screen shots at all ? I'm intrigued by your earlier "yep says signed in" comment. I only see the WWF welcome screen by providing some if not all of my login info.
2. I've downloaded FF 19.0 and posting from it. I can not reproduce your issues. I always have to go through some form of login unless I tick WWF remember me, even with FF remembering password.
3. Check FF options Privacy and Security. Password info is controlled in both. You're not invoking "Private Browsing" in some way are you ?
4. Have you tried typing in the URL and not relying on saved (and possibly suspect) copies ?
5. Where are the other FF login issues reported by others ?
Finally, I'm still not sure from your posts, if you have MANUALLY cleared FF cache and/or cookies ??

Dabbler and Niel I appreciate there is the usual ways and means of things to look at.
BUT as I have stated it is most often from clean fresh start of a morning IF I try sign in after clicking on a sent email from the WWF from a subscribed thread it will NOT accept my sign in? Now this after I have shut down for 8 hrs and FF settings are clean ALL in Cache the night before.
I have to sign in via the WWF Home page on FF which starts up when I open FF it allows a sign in, this page is open when I try signing in via the subscribed thread link which opens in a new tab.
Lets see same browser, same Cache, same Forum.
I have had trouble more recently when NOT signed after having signed out and wishing to sign back in it accepts the sign in BUT all of a sudden I am NOT signed in.
Dabbler if I could do a screen shot of a nano second I would.
