    Default Broken Hitachi

Greetings all, I wonder if anyone can help me? I have an Hitachi M12v. When this stopped working, I assumed it was the speed controller switch, as my previous one packed up after a few years and I believe this is a common fault with these routers. I managed to get hold of one somebody had bought in error and fitted it. result--dead as. I have checked the brushes and they are ok. Can I test this switch somehow? It has 3 wires and the body is totally sealed. Any thoughts apprecieated.

To test switch connect bulb at end of switch and turn on.

Another thing to check is the lead. Because it has to follow the router during use etc., the wires can fracture leaving a gap in the copper and no worky.
Any electrician would have a multimeter to check things out.
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Thanks for the replies, I will investigate further before scrapping this tool !!! Shame really, as apart from the switch, these are excellent routers. This is the second one I've had with the same fault.
    Cheers Rammy
