    Default Benchtop Chopping Board.

    Hi all.

A friend has just built himself a new house and has decided to keep the kitchen sink cut-outs to use as cutting boards.
He has asked that i make up some edges to cover up the chip board core. He wanted light colored timber so I used some stringy i had lying about.
The pic below shows where i'm up to, although the pieces haven't been glued up yet.

I'm after some suggestions for a finish to use that is food safe, durable and won't adversely effect the chipboard core (prevent swelling).

    Thanks in advance.

    Steven.

I'm not sure i wouldn't bother, I imagine it is extremely porous, not food safe & will last about a week before it smells & falls to pieces....
Not trying to have a go at you but it's not worth the risk IMHO.
