pine joists stainless ringshanks
hi, i have always pre drilled hwd decking and hand nailed it with gals into hwd joists. [staggering the nails on each board to prevent joist splitting].. now that i will be doing some work with coilgun driven stainless ringshanks into pine joists i'm assuming i can keep the nails in a straight line without concern 4 joist splitting. am i right,is this ok? and do those stainleess 50 mm ringshanks hold decking down well in treated pine joists.?....russ

Straight line nailing is fine with ss ring shanks, they hold into pine pretty good.
I think any movement between the nail is due to flex in the joists when people are moving about which is pretty hard to avoid, a longer nail might help but I think 50mm is the max with coil guns.
Cheers,
John
