Far be it from me to post a sensible comment, but if you would like some heartburn remedies that don't require sleeping with a pharmeceutical company, just say the word
.

1/2 to one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (Better quality products are easier to drink. Bragg is the best I have found, but they all do the same job) in a small glass of water. Takes ten to fifteen minutes to take effect. If you have the presence of mind to take a this a couple of times a day probably before meals before heartburn kicks in it is preventative. Sadly, I am not that organised or disciplined. It's nearly always a corrective measure for me.
Slippery Elm is another anti heartburn product. Lines the stomach.
This is getting really tedious but if you want to know why this works, just say the word.
