Is a 2nd Story Possible with my home
Hi All,
I am considering the options of extending my home and would like to extend upwards. The house is built on a slight slope from front to back, start at approx ground level sloping back to a meter high, width of building is approx 10 meters. I have the original specifications of the building and it states that stumps are concrete (4 across the span), Bearers are 4x3 O.B.HWD (red gum is believed to be all structural timber) @ 6ft centers, floor joists are 4x2 O.B.HWD @ 18 inch centers, single brick.
Is there an good measure with out the structural engineer cost, to give me an indication to see whether building up is a feasible option without restructuring? Floor within the house is not noticeably out of level.
I appreciate the myriad of different factors that could add cost to the build up, but before going into designs and spending too much money, I would like to have an idea. If this is not possible then I will spend the dosh, or consider selling to a bigger home......
Cheers
GDZ
