Vice help
Hi everyone,
I'm going on holidays in a week and i am hoping to build my first woodworking workbench. I hope to put a vice on the bench but i don't know much about them. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good vice for around $100?
Thanks in advance.
Steven

I have one of these
Carba-Tec® Large Front Vise : CARBA-TEC
on my bench and it works quite well.
The blue vice is a QR record but it is a bit more expensive than $100. Very nice vice though.

Vice help
Hi Steven,
I am about to do the same thing as you. I have been also looking for a good wood work vice and have found the following possibilities: IRWIN Record 52PD T52PD Plain Screw Woodworking Vice Vise 175mm 7" + Front Dog | eBay
This also looks pretty good: Faithfull Woodwork Vice 7in Plain Screw Dog | eBay
They're a touch above $100 but I don't think that we will be able to acquire a good vice for much less than $140.00
Cheers.
Rob.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the vice.
I bit the bullet and i bought a vice from Carbatec for $80. I will have to build the jaws for it but that will be fine. I like it also because it has such a large clamping capacity and, personaly, i think the less cast iron that is seen the better. This is the vice that i bought Carba-Tec® Large Front Vise : CARBA-TEC
I hope the bench building goes well.
