    Default Help with Storage Bench

    Hi

I am at a complete loss at the moment as to how to finish my latest project. Basically i'm building an outdoor storage box that doubles as a bench. This is mounted off the fence and my plan was to cover it with decking boards running parallel to the fence. The problem is now to make the lid hinge i had to sit the frame about 50mm of the fence and now not sure how to fill this gap. Is there something better i could/should have done. I've attached a drawing to clarify what i mean.

    Thanks in advance

How about running a board the same thickness as the lid in the gap and fitting a flush mount hinge to the top of the lid and the board.
