    Default Pergola/Enclosed Patio Query

    Hi All,

I am planning to construct a pergola (enclosed patio with some sort of laserlite sheeting) off the side of my house over an existing wooden deck (which I plan also to replace the decking with a hardwood), the pergola will be about 8 metres in length and 2 metres in width. My main concern is securing the pergola to the house as I have a colourbond fascia.

Searching through these forums I did come across one way of doing this, which involved (I assume) knocking out the existing bracket which secures the fascia and adding some 45mm timber in which is secured to the rafter via a bracket and the fascia/gutter then re-nailed to the new 45mm timber.

The extra piece of wood shown bolted to the rafter in the diagram I could only make 600mm long. So the main question being is this going to be my only/best option OR does somebody have a bright idea which can pull me out of this pickle?

    Cheers,
    Shak
