    Default Stair finishing

Hi all i have built a new staircase out of spotted gum and im after some finishing advice I have put a wattle oil based sand and sealer on it already and I was going to put an oil based polyurathane over that but I'm now hearing that the poly will turn yellow after a while and that I should use water based poly instead
my question is can I put water based poly over a oil based sand and seal

you should be able to put water based coating over the sanding filler, the reverse is not possible though.

I would suggest that you use a water based floor coating, rather than a varnish, the floor coating is a harder wearing finish.

Acrylic floor varnish is the way to go, extremely hard, very fast drying and easy to apply.

It is, however, very thin, so your finish sanding needs to be good.
