Ever since we got a Sunbeam Cafe style sandwich press (thanks to fly buy points ) the toaster has been pushed to the back of one of the cupboards. We use it for toast, toasted sandwiches, omelettes and grilling chicken and fish. Does it all really well If your're worried about your omelette or toast ending up too flat it's a simple matter of slipping a vegemite jar under the handle to support the weight.

They're a beauty aren't they mick,we scored ours from some friends and same same, we use it a lot.
Check out the RHS of the handle, it may have a sliding arrangement which limits how far it can close, preventing the compression . Releases the Vege to put a rose in every cheek .
