is Mahogany foodsafe?
Have a decent size offcut of timber from making a slab coffee table for the in-laws.
It's either Pink Mahogany or Swamp Mahogany.
Either way, is this timber foodsafe to use as a cutting board when used with a foodsafe chopping board oil?

I've never heard of any problems with Mahogany but it is a very soft timber, might not last long as a chopping board.

I think bassmansimon being in Australia is refering to Eucalyptus Robusta which is a hard and very durable timber I had a quick look at google but cant find out if it is food safe hopefully someone will be able to help. In Australia some Eucalypts are commonly known as mahogany which they aren't.
Regards Rod.
