I ended up getting a Russell Hobbs. All glass and stainless steel.
Anything has got to be better than the one I have. I always knew when the toast was ready because I could hear the toast hit the floor. It had the most efficient ejection system I have ever seen.

We bought an expensive one as it looked good on the bench .... lasted less than 12 months.

Then we bought a realy ugly $5 unit that has been going strong for 4 years .... go figure.

Funny thing..went out for dinner last night then over to friends place after for coffee and more wine/scotch etc. I noticed in the kitchen they had the same SS 4 slice Sunbeam toaster we have. Mrs friend said it was three months old and was a piece of junk like ours . Now I hate to take pleasure in the misfortune of others.....But......

Good to see there is a Dark Side even for kitchen appliances.

Pity Squizzy's toaster leaves too many f****** dark sides on his toast.

    Cheers..........Sean, cereal thanks

Does anyone long for the days when you spent a fair bit of money on an item but knew that it was going to be handed down to your kids?
There is more R&D money spent on trying to get something to last slightly longer than the warranty period than trying to get something lasting a lifetime.

We've got a Sunbeam "Toast 'n' Crumpets", and I'd tell you it seems pretty good, except that would be tempting fate.
