My Shed Nightmare.
Following is an account of a nightmare of a time I detailed on another thread regarding THEM. This is a true account of how my shed experience turned out once I made the mistake of choosing a shed from THEM.
In summary, spending $25k with THEM was the worst decision I have made in my life. Nearly cost my marriage and caused great stress. I would advise everyone to stay clear of this scamming mob regardless of how good you think the deal may be.
Why!!!
Everything was going well until I paid the deposit then all went down hill from there.
After paying the deposit they said price of steel has gone up 9% therefore I had to pay an additional 9% on the quoted price. If I didn't then I would not get my shed or the $2.5k deposit back.
After getting all the council permits, paying the (THEM) scumbags nearly $28k we settled on a delivery date. I confirmed through multiple email and follow up phone calls that everything would be delivered on the agreed date, sure they could not agree to a time but the day was o.k. I took the the day off work so I could accept delivery. Waited nearly all day and called THEM as nothing arrived yet. They said it would be delivered.
Rang THEM the next day to advise that nothing delivered and they advised that the order had not been put through to the local Stramit branch and that they had no records of an arranged delivery date because it was not at delivery stage. To cut this part of a long painfull story short, the materials arrived 6 weeks after the arranged date.
Gets worse. Heaps of materials are missing however everything on the bill of materials is correct. Obviously a complete wall missing is no problem to these morons as they advised if everything on the BOM has arrived then their is no problem. THEY had a great deal of difficulty comprehending why I would be upset that only 3 of 4 walls arrived, despite the fact the doors and windows arrived for the said missing wall. So another 2 weeks go by and the missing materials show up.
Guess what....they are the wrong colour. Yep moron at THEM decides that cream would be a great match with pale eucalypt.THEY blame the local guys so I go ripp them a new a***hole and they produce the order they were sent by THEM. Yep..you guessed it, THE moron strikes again.
The local guys were quick to help out and swapped the colours as required. It was at this point that a comment by them set alarm bells ringing. They advised that they are subject to constant abuse by clients who have purchased a shed from THEM becuase of missing or incorrect materials.
To further cut this agonising story short we commence errecting the shed. We got 3/4 of the frame up and then things werent fitting. We attempt to hire a local construction company to sort it out and they said they wont go near anything of THEM. So we get a builder in, a shed fabricator, another shed fabricator and an engineer. All said these engineered plans are useless and are not for construction of the shed we ordered. Yes heaps of phone calls and email to THEM were to no avail and we were sent the same incorrect plans 4 times. At this stage I advised THEM I would get lawyers involved and the correct diagrams were emailed within an hour.
Now we find we are missing a bunch of brackets to support some of the purlins, flashing and screws for laserlite. Contact THEM and they advised it would be 4 weeks before delivery. So after 6 weeks we call THEM and said ### is going on. We are advised our contact is on leave for 4 weeks and have to wait for them to return before it will be sorted out. At this stage I had a gutfull and received an email authority to purchase the materials locally and then forward the invoices to THEM for reimbuursement. We did this and then they said they never received them, then they lost them and then we were advised our contact was not in a position of authority to authorise such and THEY would not reimburse us because they never supplied the items. I should also point out that the local fabricator of the purlin brackets said your building a shed from either THEM or xxx and they have not supplied the correct parts and they keep stuffing you around....yeah, how did you know!
At this stage I am livid and all my calls to my THEM contact would go unanswered without return calls and email would never be replied too. On one occasion I rang my contact and they were unavailable so I had a colleague call from his mobile, advising he needed to confirm a deposit amount and asked to be put through to my contact, Yep, was transferred through immediately. At this stage I took over the call where my contact immediately hung up. Repetitive phone calls to THEM, including management, went unanswered, no return calls and they ceased contact with me.
I engaged a lawyer as I wanted to take civil action, and it was identified that I am not the first person to have such unpleasant dealings with THEM. My lawyer also advised that they will drag this out for the maximum term possible and should I lose the case I would be up for potentially hundreds of $k should I lose the case.
So after 29 weeks from the first agreed delivery date the shed was completed. We were about $7k out of pocket from the original quoted price. I wish that I accepted the quote from a local mob who could have supplied and erected the same shed for $5k more than the lying scum at THEM quoted.
Anyone reading this and contemplating buidling anything from THEM would be wise to spend a bit more and keep well away from them.
EDITED POST
We've removed the company name from this post.
I'm sure if you PM TasTradie he would be pleased to tell you who THEY are.
The company name has been removed to prevent THEM suing our member.
