After Forty Years
Hi All I never thought I would find myself here! It’s been forty years since I had my shed built and to be honest at the time I never thought I would ever build or would need another. Even then I would spend a lot of spare time in the shed although working took up most of my time then.
It’s been ten years now since I retired and over eight years since I started contributing to this forum.
So to the present moment!
First off we have had a small amount of money left to the family and with my share I am going to build a bigger shed 6mx7.440m with a 2m awning that runs down the side of the new shed to form a breezeway between the two sheds the older shed will stay and be used as a store room. Please see attached pictures.
And the new shed will butt up to the existing concrete slab outside the old shed it’s only been there 2 years.
The reason I now require a bigger shed is simply because of what my wife Patricia calls an obsession of buying tools!
I know that there is no need for any explanation on this matter as many of you good people may have suffer / put up with the same nonsense from your partners from time to time.
The Company I am getting to build the shed is called Allgall this company is not known to me and I have no financial or any other gains from them it is simply a company that I got a quote from and I liked there methods and practices of building sheds.
I have also got a local survey drafting company Clarke Dowdle & Associates submitted plans and paper work to council simply because of the Area where I live is in 1in 100 years flood area and have a building code in line with a bush fire prone areas
Keep your fingers crossed on all of this.
I will now make this as a WIP and hope that all the people involved in the building have a faster work rate than myself. Which some of you may be aware of if you have read any of my posts over the years?May your saw stay sharp and your nails never bend

That's a good size shed, taking into account that you will have a separate storage shed!

Excellent Col,
I've heard nothing but good things about Allgal. They make nice sheds.
I'm pulling up a comfy chair to watch your WIP.Those were the droids I was looking for.

So Col I guess this means your journey south is now off till at least after the shed is built..............see you next year LOL.
Now tool collection is NOT a reason for a new shed as collecting them you can store them anywhere. More space for using said tools now thats another matter of course this leads to requiring yet more tools.
Other reason is grand kids will require room to work as well so best make it a bigger shed as they will grow fast and soon be making tables, cabinets etc etc LOL

Thank you all for your comments just to bring you up to speed on Monday the Shed company is going to meet the concreted to do a sight inspection of what the pros and cons are to lay the slab at the same time the surveyor is going to meet them on sight to so he can go over the job and see what has to be submitted in the DA to council it’s my job to stand there and look smart….. Well as best I can.
Yes llya there will be a lot more room at the moment everything is on wheels and I have moved it under the awning so as to make room in the shed.
Thanks BobL it certainly is good news.
Hi Scott yes I am lucky I am looking forward to the build, I am also looking forward to catching up to you at the Melbourne show we will be working together on the stand I think on the Friday or Saturday I am not sure without having a look at the roster.
Hi Tony the company is based at Heatherbrae and does a lot of work up your way I am pleased to hear that you have heard good reports about them I was also happy with what I seen at their display sheds
.
Ray I will still be calling in for that cuppa we are going to Parkes first to the 2012 NSW Rural Women’s Gathering just to explain a little more 2 Easters ago we were at the Tullamore Irish festival and met some lovely people there so we are making contact with them again at the this event.
It has been explained to me that all the men just do their own thing so I am not too sure what that will cover…… but it’s all good stuff and after all Pat’s not into wood work and we are going to Melbourne and I will be at the Wood Show so life is always a bit of give and take
Shedbound they are my sentiments exactly!
I will show some more pictures of the shed sight and explain what clearing has to be done after talking to the folks on Monday.

I'll be joining the watchers.

Hi clobra
I too am guilty of collecting tools etc. I also play guitars and love electronica. When ever a new piece of equipment is required it's known as GAS
GAS = gear acquisition syndrome
Don't worry, it is rarely fatal. Enjoy your new shed

Hi All First off thanks for all the replies since my last post three days ago!
This morning the builder and concreter turned up for a sight check there were no great surprises there!….. Well not yet any way the surveyor also called in for a look over the site he said it was all pretty straight forward and some small problems that could occur with council he could deal with do get a favourable outcome on the build.
I have taken a picture of the sight as it is before any work starts!......... Started to clear the sight so I might wait till I clear the site before putting any pictures up, so you can see a before and after on things that’s all for the moment.
