"Professional" window glass repair
Am I being too fussy and critical here? I'm in a flat, there are two broken windows, I get a highly regarded outfit to replace these two panes, both in late 1950s style aluminium frames. One of the frames comes out easily, the other has its screws so firmly oxidised into the window, it doesn't seem possible so they fix it with the frame still in the larger frame.
I leave the guys to do their thing, they tell me not to open the windows for 24 hours - but when I look at them later I notice on one of them that instead of the glass being flush to the inside of the frame recess (which is about 11mm or close to half an inch deep) like the adjoining window (which wasn't broken) they've put it flush to the outside of the frame, meaning that two windows immediately next to each don't have windows that are on the same axis with each other - one sits about 8 - 9mm (1/3 of an inch) further out . Simply put, it looks weird.
To me it's glaringly obvious and smacks of plain sloppy workmanship and I'm about to complain.
Does my gripe seem reasonable? Or do I just need to get a life?
