G'day from Central Coast NSW
Hello,my name is Rob and it's been 54 years since I left school and did my last woodwork class, now I'm retired I thought woodworking would be a good hobby, it's going to be a steep learning curve, I have just taken delivery of a "Kreg Jig System" and am looking forward to trying it out. I see that Aldi have a table saw on sale this coming Saturday for $170, I can't see myself being able to afford $1000 + for a good brand TS, does anyone have any experience of Aldi(Taurus) gear?

Welcome Rob. I'm sure you will enjoy your new hobby and will visit the forum often. Can't help you with the Aldi saw, though I did see it in the brochure.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

G'Day & Welcome Rob to a top forum.
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum..
Enjoy your woodwork.

Welcome to the forum. I am not able to help with the Aldi table saw question. I started out and still have a Triton table and saw.
What I might suggest is to look at joining a Mens Shed in your area. No matter how steep the curve is asking questions, in the various sub forums will not seem as steep a curve.

Hi Rod Welcome aboard nice to have some more locals here from the Central Coast. I live on the Woy Woy Peninsular and hang out the Kincumber Men Shed.
I can't help you with the Aldi table saw but will go and have a look and PM you with what I think.
I use a 10 inch Dewalt table saw and is some time called a contractor’s saw owing to its portability, but not to get mixed up with a Dewalt drop saw which is altogether different.
What are you planning to build!
Have you any ideas yet, I have a couple of projects that I have on the go at the moment plus the toys for the Men’s Shed for the Christmas appeal I have a very slow work rate but always manage to get there eventually.
You will get lots of help here on the forum with ideas and plans for the most part they are great bunch of people to communicate with. Looking forward to seeing some comments and pictures of you future projects
Cheers ColbraMay your saw stay sharp and your nails never bend
