Did I miss something?? We used to be able to edit which Forums were shown in New Posts. I cannot seem to find this function any more.
Forget it, I think I have worked it out.

If you are using FireFox you can use the Auto-refresh add-on which is great. I don't need to get email notifications by using this. For PMs you can enable the auto-popup window (a forum facility, not Firefox) so that you get a notification as soon as it happens (combined with auto-refresh). Very slick, as it turns the system into "push" rather than "pull" for notifications.

Other browsers may have the auto-refresh facility, I couldn't comment.

This appears to be fixed now. I got a flurry of notifications this morning.

While I'm at it, just want to say thanks to Neil and the team for putting in all of this effort.
Must be a nightmare, but it's getting there.

    Nope it did not work!
Under the old version we were able to go to UserCP/Options and edit the Forums we could view in New Posts. I have not been able to find it under this version. Is it still available?????

I've got a bit behind the curve here due to other stuff (150-160 spammers banned over the last few days by mods). I'll do my best to get an update done tonight. Please ensure you read THE KNOWN PROBLEM LIST before reporting new items. I've bolded the key words to help you find things faster.

EDIT - Mulgabill, the answer for now is no. It may came back later, I will ask for you.

Great job lads, keep it up - to all the others things take time and most often have to get worse before they get better, let the lads breath and do what they do, or are people in such a mad rush that it all needs to be fixed today or they will never come back?

Yeah it took me 4-5 days to put up pics of my new sawmill, but no-one died from the suspense - give it time
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Brett, the whole idea behind email notifications is that you get an email advising you that someone has replied to a thread you are subscribed to, you don't need to be on the forum at the time. Same applies to email notifications of a PM, you will know you got a PM regardless of whether you are on the forum. The auto-popup for PM only goes activated when you actually login to the forum.

Could you tell me more about the Auto refresh add-on for FF, would this work for the new Activity Stream, ie does it automatically refresh the Activity Stream page when a new post has been entered on the forum? If so it would give us iSpy back.

But I'm always on the forum Fred....

You can set the Auto-Refresh for about 8 pre-determined times, or go to custom. It does exactly the same thing as clicking the refresh button, so if that updates the Activity Stream then so will AR.

It's great for PMs because it will interrupt any tab that you're looking at in that execution of FireFox, with the little pop-up that can be canned for later if you want.

I have a two screen set-up here, and there have been occasions (such as during the Hand Tools Group Buy) where I have had iSpy open and visiable on the laptop screen, and my USERCP, or whatever thread I'm looking at open on the big (main) screen.

I have noticed that if you are in New Posts with AR on (a right click option will toggle it) when it refreshes after say 2 minutes, it will NOT include the new posts since then - it will just un-bold the ones that you've looked at since the last refresh, just like manually refreshing does. To get the latest posts included you have to click new posts again.

FireFox is pretty cool Fred. I switched to it about two years ago. There's an absolute stack of add-ons and plug-ins available, mostly free with a plea for donation. I use around 15 add-ons and I don't get ANY flashing ads on Newspaper sites etc, which means I actually get to be able to read the primary msg of the site (the News). I can see and block tracking sites (and there's HEAPS of them), and so it goes on.

I'm yet to determine if the Forum's new Auto-save feature preserves my text in the middle of replying. This is one down side of AR - if you don't toggle it off then you lose whatever you have just typed. I'm surprised you haven't heard me on occasion Fred, particularly when it happens 3 times in 5 minutes (yeah I'm that dopey at times). However, if you have the AR set to 2 minutes then you don't have to retype much (and if I sense a refresh coming I quickly ctrl-A and ctrl-C, and paste it back after the refresh).

There are those that would say I'm a bit AR myself.

Thanks Brett, F5 doesn't refresh Activity Stream, neither does Auto Refresh, I just installed it and no go. The other features of Auto Refresh are not that important to me, so have uninstalled it again.

Yes, have been using Firefox for quite a while and use some of their add-ons.

Nutso. Kinda figures though. So what you need is a touch screen with a trained monkey, or are you already doing similar?
