Mill Scale!?
For this I mostly use my belt sander with an old belt which I find the most effective but does anyone have a secret, non-mechanical way to get it off?

I have used a quality acid easily picked up from the local pool shop buts thats only handy for small stuff...............

Thanks, was hoping there would be a spray-on, wipe-off secret formula....Ah well. Yes I have the wire brush and angle grinder but use it only when nothing else will fit. Acid, Hydrochloric? I have a bottle of 70% Nitric but that's only for special occasions.

Got to be very careful wear the right gear n ensure good ventilation but yeah have used hydrochloric acid (As strong as i could get my hands on) with great success.............
Unless it was a job for myself that i felt really needed it or i was getting paid a kings ransom id pretty much never go near it again and definately avoid it like the plague for production work etc..................its filthy stuff

Anything small (under 1.5m sqare) I put through the sandblast cabinet,
Long items and big stuff I scuff back with sanding discs that go on my 5''
Grinder, the ones with the rubber back pad.Warning Disclaimer

No,
I use smith and arrow discs, they seem to be the best
Bang for your buck.
They are the sanding disc with a center hole that screw into
A 5'' rubber backing pad.
They remove millscale like a hot knife through butter.Warning Disclaimer
