g'day
hi all,
no idea what to say here, other than hi
I'm very keen to make some toys for my son, now 7 months. Just migrated here so very short on tools and things, but now the household stuff is all bought, borrowed and given, I'm starting on the shed. Turning 30 next month and my husband is buying me a drill press. Love him to bits
Today we bought some wood, finally, 3mm triplex and a fretsaw, clamps, I'm ready to go! Starting with some wooden inlay puzzles (no idea if they have a special name here) and a map of Australia with animals that you can move around. Oh, and a wooden book on the secret life of three little caterpillars S. devours his books, hopefully he won't go through the wood now he's about to get his top teeth.
I also want to make a shape sorter, posted a question on that, a rattle, as he loves anything that makes a noise and one of those round crawling toys.
and maybe some blocks, more puzzles, music toys, boxes, more puzzles (I saw that very neat box with circles that need 47 moves to open, that would be so awesome) and after that I might learn how to do cabinet making and make some cabinets. Anyway, ideas are endless, can't wait to start sawing.

You are very welcome, Mrsfrog. Hope you enjoy your fretsaw work, if you can find time to sleep with your new baby!!
God bless you all.

thanks enjoying it so far, but have only been designing and drawing and thinking about how to go with cutting the wood without too much spilling.
I actually get a heap of sleep, S is just great. We cosleep and when he needs a feed, all I have to do is roll over and go back to sleep again! In spite of 2hourly feeds from birth until last month, I've been sleeping 8 hours sleep since week 2.
Finding time away from gazing at this little miracle growing so fast is much harder to find

G'Day & Welcome MrsFrog,
Enjoy that little one while it lasts as they grow up all too fast.
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for the most very willing to assist.
Good to see that you know about posting photos, everyone loves a photo, especially WIP photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.
Enjoy the little one.
Cheers, crowie...
PS _ make sure you get a decent sized drill press "birthday gift".....
