Default Fluid control knob on spray gun

Most of the hvlp spray guns I"ve seen have a second knob or ring running on the thread of the fluid control knob. I guess its meant to act as a stop or lock of some sort. Can anyone clarify what this is used for ?

    cheers and thanks

Yes most spray guns have a locking ring on the product controll.

The idea is that you set your product flow and then lock the setting with the locking ring.

Most people don't bother....the product comntroll generally stays put anyway..AND most experienced painters will adjust the product controll from time to time anyway.

    cheers

    Most powertools have sharp teeth.
    People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
