    Default Masterchef.

I generally enjoy this program but don't watch it religiously.

    Just some observations:

George is one of the untidiest eaters I have ever seen.

Is there an element of favouritism at times?

    * In a previous series (Junior Masterchef) there was a young fellow called Jack, from Tassie. It seemed to me that the judges had decided that they wanted a certain pair of girls to go to the final and Jack was left high and dry because of this. From memory he had cooked a perfect snail porridge and, I think, some other dish. Trouble was the girls were marked prior to Jack, and in such a way that Jack had no hope of coming tops, even with perfect scores.

*Last night there was an elimination challenge. Kylie Kwong set the challenge and each contestant had to choose one ingredient from eight offered by Kylie and make a Chinese style dish based on this ingredient.

Now I would have thought that the cooking of that singular ingredient should have carried most of tthe weight for the scoring. Beau cooked his prawns to perfection. Audra Cooked her tofu to a less than perfect standard. Guess who was eliminated?

Not favouring either, but I think if the judges were true to their standards then a different result was in order.

    SWMBO is now saying:

Its a TV show for entertainment value not a sports competition. Its a popularity contest who can sell a cook book.

I do wonder what Georges mum thinks when he eats like that on TV.

We watch it every night, like all these shows its run by the producers to keep viewers watching, make money with adds and selling books and anything with the logo on.
In reality its as honest as an NRL referee
Don't let it worry you just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Too much TV today seems to be either a "Get Fat" or "Lose Fat" show.

    What has happened to entertainment?

Don't start me on all of those 1900 voting numbers which makes these sorts of programs "El Cheapo" to produce for the channels and to a large degree develops the program into some sort of false popularity contest rather than true tests of skill.

I also like Masterchef but do not watch it religiously.
I cannot understand simple food hygiene isn't practiced
Nothing covering long hair, running hands through hair and then touching food that others will eat
However, to me the most revolting is the continous close-ups of Matt and Gary masticating their food.
I always close my eyes when that comes up, there is nothing worse than Mat's huge jowls wobbling up and down.
