Drill Press with Adjustable Head
Are there any D/Ps with a head that can be adjusted up and down rather than the bed? My reasoning is so I can set up a long table either side, similar to ones used with drop saws.
Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

Yes, but they are more in the (metal) engineering area, they are called geared head drilling machines, here are some examples:

You can also build your own, in effect.

See 05Stage1.jpg and 07Stage2.jpg for usage, and 06Stage0.jpg for setup.
I attached an auxiliary table to the DP table, through-bolted with csk bolts to a plank; the plank then clamped to sawhorses. Roller stands supported the rest of the workpiece, and the DP hangs from the table.
The objective here was to drill at an angle in a piece too heavy to support in "normal" mode. I had to pre-set the elevation, because there wasn't enough room for the handle swing IIRC. An extension for the handle would probably enable. Angle was also pre-set.
On this particular job, I juggled the quill handles to miss the workpiece as drilling progressed.
