stanley no 78 blade
Can any one tell me where I can buy a new blade for my No 78 rebate plane? Also is a Record 078 blade interchangeable with Stanley?

Unfotunately the Stanley Tool Parts website has been out of stock of these cutters for about a year.
Lie-Nielsen have a very nice (and very pricey) replacement cutter.
Yes, the Record 078 cutter fits, as does the cutter from a #78 Woden, WS, Carter, etc . But beware: the Record 778 cutter does not fit (unless you machine slots into the back).

Thank every one for your replies. I met Stuart from Tool Exchange this afternoon here on the Sunny Coast & we made the transaction. Discussed a Stanley No5 renovation I'm working on. Definitely a win win all round.
Thanks again every one. Barry
