Red gum tree - Sydney

Hi,
I just chopped down a red gum on my property. (don't worry, had a permit).
Was wondering if anyone wants it? My friend says i should be able to sell it for $5k - but i'm not sure what it's worth? Should i try selling it to a lumberyard?

10-15m high, about a foot diameter, very straight.

Sorry to give bad news, but

1. Not a red-gum
2. You are dreaming if you think you will get $5k even if it was red-gum

It would be a big tree to get $5k, and only then, after cutting it up, stacking and drying for a few years, then dressing it

That's not bad news, it just means we're getting closer to the facts, which is always helpful.

Any idea what it is, then?
Any suggestion what it's actually worth, if anything?
Is it worth ringing the nearby timberyards and offering it?

If you thought it was a red-gum because it was red, I would say red-stringy, but I will leave that to the timber identification experts.

If it is only 1' diameter, the millers won't be interested but you could try, although the photo does make it look larger. Your local wood turning clubs might be interested, but unfortunately, most are retired and like their timber free

In all honesty, it is probably not worth anything as it is. Very much doubt any sawmill would take it, cartage and recovery would outweigh value of log.

If it was me, I'd be cutting it into foot blocks for firewood. Looks to be some sort of stringybark maybe.
