G'day from the hills

My name is Arnie and I've been lurking these last few weeks and it feels like I've found home!

My old man had a shed and it was stuffed with the most fabulous bits of scrap. He had to make do with few tools and little money and he passed on the making bug to me ...

But I haven't had a shed for the past 15 years or so, living in rentals.

Until two years ago we found a gorgeous 90 year old house in the Dandy ranges and fell in love with it and the acre of land it was built on...

... and after falling in love with the house, this is what I discovered tucked away in a corner ...

That shed is 12 x 8 m, and of course too small

For the last two years it has been crammed full of junk we've collected over a lifetime, but slowly and surely the backlog is being cleared so I've got space for a workshop.

Joining the forum is a sign that things are getting close. Still some sifting and sorting, some lining work in the shed to make it possible to be there in our cold and damp winters, and then kitting it out with some decent tools

The one decent tool I own is one of the big Vicmarc lathes. Have done lots of woodturning over the past 20 years, but now looking to kit up for furniture making and cabinetry.

Congratulations on the shed but it's empty....lol.
With an acre you could easily build an annex on the side of that small shed for extra space.
I wish I was so fortuniate.

I've included a 'now' photo of the shed. Everywhere you look in it at the moment it is about as crammed and chaotic. There is a coherent plan but it's like a sliding jigsaw puzzle. I tell myself eventually the sliding puzzle will fall into shape and then it'll be a place I actually make nice things in

I've been busy sorting, sifting and shuffling great piles of stuff in an effort to store things properly. I'm working up until Sunday but then get some time to keep at it. A rack of industrial shelving arrived early in the week so I've been sneaking out early to grab a few extra minutes here and there.

And I think it might now be coming together.

The workshop area will be 8x8 metres but this includes an area for storing long timber and boards. I promise to post some pics when I get half a chance
