Mill- drill troubles.
Can anyone tell me where parts may be available for a "HERLESS" RF-30B Mill-drill.
A friend needs a Leadscrew nut for the X axis on his, & having tried in the past to find change wheels for a Herless lathe I realise the company no longer exists.
Considering so many of these were made as generic machines under many different names, & that all models seem to use the 24mm x 2.5 leadscrew I thought someone might know of a way around the problem.
Of course if none are available we can make a replacement but would be grateful for any leads to save tine.
Cheers

Hello Barry,
I assume it is a Phosphor Bronze nut?
If so, your friend may need to remove the leadscrew and nut, ring around and take them to a machine shop that can make a new nut and screw cut the new thread. With the leadscrew at hand to test they will have no worries getting the correct fit.
If it is a recirculating ball nut, sorry, no idea.
Good luck. The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

Try H&F as they might have one from another machine. If not I see you mention a lathe, so it might be worth making one.

Hi Barry
I have a Herless RF 40 which i bought Parts for from Ereplacment parts in the US.
You will have too search for your machine as our Brands and Model no's mean nothing over there [ my drill is a Jet Ghf something] and it's a good site with exploded views of the parts with prices. Be warned the freights a killer $70-00 but the Parts are cheap.

Barry
I just had a look on Ereplacment site your RF30 if Tiawanese would be made by Rong-Fu it is similar to a Jet JMD-18PFN in Jet Drill Parts, no table parts there but have a look in Jet mill parts at JTM-836-1 exploded view of tables might be yours.

Thanks whitey & others.
I had a look at that table but unfortunately that is a different system, the one we are chasing has separate nuts for each axis.
That machine is also a Turret Mill so perhaps that is why.
We are also chasing up Hare Forbes but I don't like our chances as they seem to have abandoned the Herless brand entirely.
I will continue to chase up leads but it is beginning to look as if I will have to make him one.
Cheers
Barry.

Problem solved.
We found a helpful chap at H&F Sydney who confirmed that the Hafco are the same machine so we ordered a replacement.
Thanks to all who offered help.
Cheers
