Split rings, shear plates, dog toothed washers - any one use these -they are the same
any body ever used these.
they are basically a washer that goes in between two pieces of wood that get bolted together to increase the resistance to shear forces

I havnt seen them used much and couldn't purchase them anywhere (might be called a different thing here). a few references to them in standards but thats it.
I am bolting some rafters to bottom cords and figured they are cheap and easy to throw in there and might just make it a bit stronger
