The article doesn't say if he was a politician, but from the lack of serious harm caused by the injury, I'm assuming he was.

So why would you have the gun pointing towards your forehead? I'm having trouble working this one out.

I have never heard of a nail gun that fired on tip pressure. But will stand corrected on that.
There is also a fair bit of recoil, so I don't see how the nail would have gone in so far.
Nail position.
Girl friend stated she cleaned up the guys "fore head". If that nail entered the front of the guys head, then rotated nearly 180, I would think his brain would be mush.
Just me, but I have a big problem believing this one.

It happened in America so anything possible, but the nail is facing the wrong way if it went in through the forehead. Also it seems to have gone in a long way, I wouldn't have thought an air operated gun would do that and a Ramset style charge would go out the other side again.

I have a problem believing this too. Gun that fires on tip pressure, well yes that's pretty common, but I have a problem with how it swung around and touched his forehead, how the head of the nail did not hold up on the skull and how the nail is now facing the wrong way.

This is all pretty sus. If the nail was fired into the forehead it has done a 180 or the nail was in the gun backwards (dont think thats possible.) Surely the most logical explanation is that some peanut, with nothing better to do with their time, has laid a nail on the plate, then put their head on the nail and taken the photo. If I'm wrong, how about they repeat the performance while we watch?
I love Yanks, but I couldn't eat a whole one.

Maybe he loaded the nails the wrong way in the gun.
Reality is no background music.

Reading some of the other reports, it seems like he was nailing over his head and managed to point the nail gun at himself and set it off. He thought the nail whistled past his ear.....(and yeah, it's the US, and they all seem to love bump fire nailguns there)

Someone told him to use his head when handling
the gun.
He nailed it first time.
