No matter what they are making, it's always fascinating to watch a master craftsman at work.
I remember seeing the tortoise shell pins and combs for sale in Kyoto. I think they were around five to six hundred dollars each. I imagine glasses would be in the thousands.

I've watched them 3 times now...going to give it a go myself!
I got some tools and shell and other stuff that was used by a local craftsman.
Slomell
The stones the bloke was using look similar to some I've seen used in cook-at-the-table restaurants. I have some brass blocks and templates that Slomell used, some huge electric soldering irons, and an anvil type thing in steel that looks like a curled horn.

(imagine how much better his work would be if he was given one of those red new-fangled titanium fretsaw to use)
