    Angry Decking Oil still sticky

6 days ago I applied correctly a coat of Intergrain Ultraguard water based decking oil to a large Merbau deck. Probably not smart to do this at 5PM, but dry weather since then should have dried it. Help line man says humidity and cool weather have caused many problems with all finishes. "Should be OK in a FORTNIGHT " Can suggests 4hours ideal drying time. Preparation was good on a thin 12 month old coat of I.U.
Any ideas ? My wife is stir crazy.

You're right it wasn't very smart. Classic case of less haste more speed.

Waterbased coatings rely on minimum film forming temperature. This temperature is also affected, ie lowered, by high humidity.

Once this happens, the only "cure" is time and temperature.

Your help line guy got it right, patience is the word here.

Don't know what you applied this over, "I.U."????

    Default Deck Oil Sticky.

Previous post got the product wrong. Its Intergrain UltraDeck. This gave the abbrev. IU. Thanks for the info.
Guess the barbecue has to live in the loungeroom for another week.

You are BBQing in the loungeroom?! Puts a whole new meaning to "Coughs" Harbour.
Oils require warmth and penertration for quick drying. The product you are using cures in about 7days, average temp and average humidity. I cant imagine Coffs with average humidity at this time of year. Assuming you have not been too liberal with the application or recoated before dry, it will dry with a bit of extra time. Even if you have over done it, it will still dry eventually.
