Hi, I'm new.
Hey everyone. New member saying 'hi'. Haven't really done any woodworking since high school (over 15 years ago), but am finally looking to get into it, with a focus on luthiery and guitar modification.
I've been playing guitar on and off since I was 11 and have 10 at the moment. I've done some crude refinishing as a kid and swapped hardware and pickups a number of times. I've also orchestrated a nice custom job from an Ibanez Talman TC420 electric, but while the axe copped a refret and PLEK job, filled tremolo cavity and new pickguard, the only thing I did was rewire all the new electronics and assemble.
I've become hopelessly addicted to stalking guitar build forums and am becoming increasingly interested in building and modding for myself, just on a personal, self-satisfying basis. So, I've begun buying all the local woodworking mags and started surfing this and other related forums, sale sites etc to learn as much as I can before jumping and buying any expensive tools and machinery.
I DID jump in and buy an Epiphone G400 (SG) for a few hundred bucks that I plan to use as a testbed for some decent mods, such as filling pot holes, relocating the input jack to the side, shaving the sides of the neck down a little, swapping to better tuners etc etc... this should test and improve my skills and have me end up with a cool custom SG.
Hoping to enjoy my stay. Thanks for listening.
