New Member Currumbin
Hi everybody. I've been a casual member for a while and thought it time to introduce myself. I'm Chris . I've been working fulltime with timber all my life except 2andahalf years on an excavator (which was fun). 30 years ago I started a furniture making business and after a while it became a manufacturing business and a while after that it became a thing that was there for the benefit of wealthy iconic australian retailers to feed their racehorses , albeit employing just under 20 people for a fair while and training up to tradesman level about 18 apprentices. After the last "lower cost/increase efficiency/sharpen the pencil" squeeze to make a nice item for $1500+13.5%rebate cost to then become $3950 retail, I realised something was drastically wrong...... Yes it had been 25 years and I must be slow.
Now we make custom built - direct to the user - a lot more fun and maybe one of the last ways to sustainable employment in woodwork.
Thanks, Chris

Thanks. But I sometimes feel like a beginner with my hand skills. Even after our downsize I'm still torn between working and managing. I'm hoping working will win but I might need a manager?

Welcome Chris!
Wouldn't have been in bedroom furniture would it? Gerry has that effect on people.
The folk around here are great, no rebate hikes to worry about. A place where people give more than they take.
