G'day (or hi !)
Hi, quick hello from new forum member in northern Sydney.
I've just moved down to Australia and having dealt with the wife's list of demands for the new house, I can turn my attention to setting up my workshop. At this stage it will be in the garage, but later.......hopefully something bigger.
First on the list is a tablesaw, followed quickly by a small bandsaw...I've read the many threads discussing options (options seem fairly limited from what I can see) and I've posted a "wanted" ad, so if anyone needs an excuse to upgrade their existing saw, I'm happy to assist.
My difficulty will be coming to terms with what ever I buy. My last saw was an Altendorf F90, but those days are a long way off at the moment. I used to have my own cabinetmaking/joinery company in Europe but sold off all of my equipment a couple of years ago when the desire to do something that actually made money overcame the love of breathing sawdust.
Will no doubt be bugging people for info on timbers, etc
cheers
Paul

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum Paul,
You'll find a heap of helpful blokes & ladies with lots of knowledge to share.
On the workshop setup watch the "market place" in the forum, your local paper or even ebay for some good quality secondhand machiney.
Hoping all goes well.
Cheers from a toymaker, Crowie

Hi Paul,
Welcome to Aus, and Welcome to the forums.
I'm only two suburbs north of you in Berowra, so welcome to the area too
Good luck with setting your workshop again. Each corner of the world is blessed with beautiful native timbers and I reckon we got a pretty good deal here in Aus.
Enjoy!
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

Thanks all!
Doesn't seem to much second hand stuff around at the moment.
Ive actually used quite a bit of australian wood before, my local woodyard in the UK when i was a student focused on OZ timbers. Many of my early projects were in jarrah and blackwood
