I saw an ad for the Hitchhikers movie last night. Looks good, full on special effects, light years ahead of the TV show. Only one problem - they're all Septics!!!!

Actually looks like there's a couple of poms in it, including Martin Freeman (The Office) as Arthur Dent and Stephen Fry as the Book. But Ford Prefect is a black rapper!!!

I can't say I'd be looking forward to a seppo version. The American film industry might be good at some things but subtle humour, particularly British humour, is not one of them. They'll fiddle with it and seppofy it and, well, **** it up The don't get aussie humour either do they - Hoges and Irwin had to go slapstick to make it work over there.
But that won't stop me watching it, I just won't be looking forward to seeing it.
Something a writing mate and I like doing is watching various versions of movies back to back and analysing the story telling. This gets particularly interesting when you compare Japanese originals with American remakes or British originals with American remakes. The yanks (in general - they too have their geniuses) don't have a clue, which is why the American film industry currently pumps out stuff aimed at mollifying the largest number of people rather than giving a quality product to a smaller group.
Cheers

Apparently Douglas Adams wrote the screenplay and had a fair bit to do with the early stages of it, so maybe it wont be too bad. There is a new character played by John Malkovich that was created and written in by DA.

Anything but lawyers, cops and murders (and all the combinations of them - cops murdering murderers, murderes murdering cops, do-gooder seeing murders in the future ......). That really cuts it down quite a bit.
The fish tank on channel 31 isn't bad

Saw and ad on The Martha Stewart Channel last night. They now have a Master wood carving show on Thursdays at 9pm. They take off two popular woodworking shows to put on another woodworking show that is too specialised for most people.
