    Default Safety Glasses Standard

    Yeah

Forgot to mention for those blokes that wear specs all the time. You can get them safety glass proof. That is, when you buy your new reading specs you can get them graded to safety lens specs that come under the AS 1337 standard with side shields. On mining sites throughout West Aust that is a requirement if you wear specs all the time. Me, I buy my own safety glasses as I don't like what the company gives me, personal choice. Same goes for ear muffs, like that other fella said, about taking the time to wear the gear. Any task that has noise and grinding in it, on goes the safety glasses, safety shield and in go the ear plugs or ear muffs. Want to be able to hear my woman sneak up on me. Cunning she is.

Good point about the ear muffs.
    1. I'm trying to protect what hearing I have left despite using muffs for decades. 4 extra layers of dense foam in the same pair that I use for Unlimited Handgun target shooting (IHMSA 7mm/.308 bolt action single shot.) and Trap/Sporting Clays.

This morning, I've been doing the annual clean-out of my wood pellet stove which will heat my entire home for the winter (which is coming very quickly). I have to sit on the floor with a full-sized ShopVac running for 30 minutes, right beside my head-bone. I can ignore it.

    2. In my work shop, I've discovered that with almost all sound blocked out, I can concentrate on what the machine is doing, sawing, shaping or grinding. Plus, I'm running the ShopVac for dust control. I do better work that way. Other people may not agree.
