Bet that took some thinking time to keep it clean.

Perhaps taking the foot-pegs off to lighten the weight wasn't such a good idea?

After his accident he was told he would never sit on a motor cycle again. Brian was afraid this might be the end of his racing career! But after repositioning the rear view mirrors he discovered he could be even more stream lined than before.

Chuck accidentally stumbles on a winning formula when he misunderstands a tip that a different ball bearing may improve his time.

Well, at least he's wearing a helmet. That should satisfy the safety nudniks...

There were some beauties here. I have to commend mic-d, Ozkaban, tea lady,
and Skew ChiDAMN for being sometimes prolific and all of who combined some of the essence of the picture in their comments.

I welcome 48tedd to the forums, who provided, as mic-d pointed out, a good caption, but was 145 pages off the mark. No matter: Just head to the last page for your next attempt.

If the intrepid rider had fallen off, Undie's comment might have become " prelude to the organ grinder."

I did consider that it might have been the first instance of planking and I would hazzard a guess that it is a record that will stand for all time.

In the end I am going to go with Ozkabahn's caption as it was close to the reality as well as being a typical aussie phrase

"Whadaya mean you don't reckon it could pull the skin off a pudding? Maaaate, it'll pull the speedos off a bondi lifesaver.. "

The photo was for real as this explains:

"Rollie Free made made history aboard a 1948 Vincent HRD V-Twin motorcycle, often referred to as the “Bathing Suit Bike” due to the scant attire of its rider, Roland “Rollie” Free. John Edgar hired Free to make the attempt at the Bonneville Salt Flats on Sept. 13, 1948. Free initially removed the bike seat and laid flat out on his stomach to minimize wind resistance, and when the stitching on his leathers failed and they began flapping in the breeze, he discarded them too, opting instead for a simple pair of tight bathing trunks, a swim cap, and a pair of tennis shoes. Tragedy could have been the result, but Free averaged a smoldering 150.313 mph, smashing the previous American speed record and establishing a new world record for unstreamlined and unsupercharged bikes."

    That is positively frightening.

    Over to you Ozkaban
