    Default First effort.

This is a dressing table I have restored, since this shot was taken brass handles have been added.
Underneath many coats of paint it was in pretty good condition, no major cracks and the legs etc were solid, the mirror has lost some silver but it is original with a beveled edge so dont think I will replace it.
I disassembled as much as possible, the mirror posts and mantle came off as did the top, I did not keep track of hours spent on the job but all up it took about 3 months of my spare time, stripping paint and exposing clean timber was by far the most tedious part of the project.
I finished it with Estapol satin, next time I do a job like this I will use shellac, I've been playing with it for a couple of months now and it's great to use.

Nice job. Looks beautiful. Lot of work there. What's the timber? Looks like Jarrah?

Thanks for the encouraging words guys, Richard, dont know exactly what the timber is, definitely not Jarrah, looks similar to what I have heard called Australian Oak, what ever that is, I have seen lots of furniture made in the 20's and 30's made from the same timber.
The old style brass handles I fitted covered all of the old holes and made a huge difference to the finished piece.
