Etax
Just submitted mt tax return using Etax, I have this will be the nineth year I have used this service, I enjoyed it so much this year, after doing mine I did Mrs Phil's tax. What a great service the government has got something right for once. I am looking forward to next year and can hardly waite.

Phil, MBGitW does ours, basically I just hand over the group certificate and my Credit union details and she does the rest. Very painless for me.

I've also been using etax for 8 years. I originally started because the tax agent I was going to said I wasn't supplying my interest & dividend summary in the way he liked (I had an excel spread sheet). I ask how he preferred them but didn't get much of a useful answer. So in 2003 I thought I'd try etax to prepare the tables in an efficient manner before taking them to the accountant that year. By the time I got to the end of the program I realized I had just completed what the account was going to do and charge me $400 for the privilege. Also the accountant always had us sign waivers that said all the detail was provided by us and to absolve them of any responsibility for the submission anyway.
The only issue I have is when submitting via the tax agent I had until May the next year to submit, now I have to submit by end of October. This is not much of an issue, but I have some dividends from infrastructure companies and they usually don't supply the year end tax information until mid September. So I really only have a couple of weeks window to do the return.

Maybe we will all experience the same enjoyment when we fill out the National Census online next month.

Me too Phil.
I did the last one online and it worked well. Apparently less than 10% did it online last time and they expect better than 30% this time.

I guess the reason the online census and Etax work so well is that a previous government did those unlike the attempts at internet pages by the current lot
