Maple stairs: tung oil?
Hi folks,
I am completing a new house and will have a timber floor laid (select Stringybark) which will be finished with tung oil. I also have a staircase (see photos here: http://www.users.on.net/~bbaer/HTML/Page5.html )
which I will need to apply a finish too also. It is made of maple.
Would tung oil be a suitable finish for the staircase as well?
As I am not skilled but will be doing the stairs myself (NOT the floor!) it needs to be easy to work with. Actually, I may get the floor sander to sand and seal the treads and I'll just do the rails etc.
Your comments would be appreciated.
Regards, Bernie.

Well I took a guess and finished the rails with Cabots' 'Crystal Clear' in a gloss finish. Will use Tung Oil on the treads.
