Computer geek getting the urge
Evening all,
Nice looking site! Stumbled across it during a random Google search.
I'm a long-time computer geek who has recently developed the itch to get back into woodworking. Not that I was ever an expert at it
I'm spending too much of my life in front of a computer - having worked with and administered high-end servers and secure networks, to my current day job as a Technical Writer, computers are consuming too much time with which I could be a lot more creative.
Due to this, and growing up around my carpenter Grandfather, high-school woodwork, and the occasional building project with my brother, I have gotten the itch to get cutting again which feels like a real calling to me.
With a basic garage workshop, I have started to make simple furniture for the missus and toys for the nephews/nieces who are suddenly turning up everywhere..
A bigger project on the cards is an old-school arcade machine cabinet (with MAME emulation).
Anyway, I look forward to learning a lot along the way and keeping all of my appendages.. Greetings to all.

Howdy!
It is hard to get excited about working with computers and stuff, I know only too well. At least it affords me the luxury of a workshop!
Heaps on here to get you started. Enjoy!Semtex fixes all

From one computer geek to another, Welcome! There is not much that beats building something that will last when your work 'disappears' when the computer is turned off.
cheers

Welcome,
You are not the only geek that has stumbled across this site. Doing things with wood gives me a sanity break after working with computers and the users on the end of them all day.
Enjoy your time here.
