Bought Tassie Oak dining set - recommended products to protect finish?
Hello,
We just bought a Tasmanian Oak dining set. As you can see below, it has a very rough and natural looking finish. We were probably crazy to buy this for a dining table, but we just loved it.
So, the question is, what should we use to protect the table top from food and keep it looking nice?
The store we bought it from didn't have an specific information on the finish of it, but generically suggested using teak oil or beeswax.
Any recommendations for specific products?
Thanks, Dorothy

Just to clarify is there no finish at all on the setting.
Or does it have a finish and you just want to put another finish over this.
If there is a finish on there generally cleaning with a damp rag is all that is needed.Jim Carroll

Hi Jim,
I think there is a finish, but it seems very "light" by its appearance. I was just wondering if I should put something else over it to protect it, since the grain is so rough.
Thanks, Dorothy

No finish after all
We've been living with this table for a month or so now, and I'm pretty sure there's no finish on it. Liquids soak in quickly and it stains easily.
What would you suggest to finish it to withstand daily use and protect it from food stains?
