Finishing a plywood desk top
Hi there, I am in the process of building a office desk out of 17mm fijian cedar (BB) plywood with a 40x18mm tassie oak edge. I am unsure about the best finish to use on the desk top. The desk will be used as a study desk by 3 children so the finish will need to be pretty durable. Any sugestions on the best product to use as well as preparation ideas would be much appreciated. I was thinking of using Cabots Cabothane as I have used this product before.
Thanks in advance

Fast Eddy
I made desks for the kids using rosewood for the base and the top is plywood with rosewood edges I used Feast and Watson floor seal on tops and it comes up a treat. Usually rub wax into the final coat using steel wool with the grain and then buff it off. I suggest that you try it on a scrap piece of timber first. as for the rest of the table I either use Livos Kunos oil or Wiping varnish

Finishing a Plywood Desk top
Thanks Proberts, I'll look into those options. Have you found the finish on the desk to be hard wearing and resistant to stains from tea cups etc?
