I had visions of a half dozen different wedges attached by lanyard to the rear tote.

Grind your blade to 25°, hone a secondary 3° bevel and the standard plane is low angle at 40°, then just slip in a
5° wedge to get common pitch,
10° wedge if you want York pitch
15° wedge for Middle pitch
20° wedge for Half pitch
or go full hog and use a 50° wedge to get a scraper plane

Does it make shavings? Yep. Is it any good at doing so? Nope. Actually, it is difficult to say - the infill needs to be glued in, or secured in some way. As it is, it has sandpaper underneath to act as non-slip, but this is not fully adequate. As a result the blade slips a little and it is not possible to obtain a stable depth of cut.

On the other hand I have built a plane like this. It does have a 25 degree bed ... and it is one of the finest smoothers I have used.



So it is more than just possible.
