It's a bit of a mystery atm, there are no intensive tasks like backups running. I can see the server load and page load time spikes in our monitoring.

Yep thanks, server load spiked for a currently unknown reason. We have the forum software set to basically switch the site off once the server load exceeds a certain value. While it's annoying, it essentially gives the server a chance to catch up on the tasks and recover....much better than the alternative of being overwhelmed and crashing.

Considering the crash a few nights ago, and visible load spikes last night and tonight, there is obviously something going on that needs fixing.

I got a server too busy message when attempting to reload my boat thread on the Storer forum a few minutes ago (circa 10 pm, 9 Mar '11). Seems to have cleared up now though, and this thread loaded from scratch just fine. And I have been finding the forum appallingly slow on the odd occassions in the evening as well, but have put that down to overloading on Optus' local cable feed (it's highly congestion-sensitive).

    Cheers,
    Alex.

Default What's going on with the forum?

Is it just me, I'm experiencing problems getting into the forum. Sometimes I get straight in, and at other times I have to wait ages for a page to load up.

    What's going on Neil?

For tonight at least you can expect things to be slow. The internet is choked with people watching video of the Tsunami in Japan.

When in paint you can crop the screen capture to show only the section you want shown, resize and a whole lot more. If you haven't used paint before play with it and have some fun. If you muck it up, click on New do CTRL V thing again and dadah it will be there again so long as you haven't copied anything else.

For Mac users: Sorry - No idea, but there will be something very similar.

    Cheers
To print screen Mac users should hit Shift + Command + 3 to do a full screenshot or Shift + Command + 4 then select area to do a partial screenshot.

    Macs are better
