    Prob best posted here where most plane rehabbers live and who may provide some expert feedback or comment.

    Still here.

    FWIW here's one comment re that link:

    The critical thing with lapping plane soles is flat, flat and more flat.

    So flat substrate.

    Then quality abrasive sheet. Not local hardware supplies.

    Then great care to avoid edges getting more exposure to fresh abrasive than the middle.

    The big no no with the linked technique is cloth backed sheet. It compresses and exaggerates the rounding over of the edges.

    Try to find some 3M alox 'microfinishing' abrasive. Available in the US starting at 80-100 micron coarse grits. Not imported Downunder AFAIK, sadly.
