Redgum Mirror
Regular readers of Aust.Woodsmith will recognise this mirror from issue 81. I have a good friend getting married soon and thought this would make a nice gift for the newly-weds.
After really enjoying using redgum for some jewellery boxes i made recently i sourced some recycled house timber to use for this project along with some recycled jarrah for the detailing inside the frame over the mirror.
When raw, the jarrah was considerably darker than the redgum so i thought it would make a good contrast but after the varnish was applied they ended up nearly the same.
It's made as per the plans in the mag but i made it about 10cm shorter thinking the original looked a bit long from top to bottom.
Apologies for the messy reflections in some of the pics, mirrors are so hard to photograph.
Thanks for looking.
Steven.
